Onderzoek naar de validiteit van de Revised Quick Drinking Screen - Self-Report (QDS-R-S)

Samenvatting

Zowel in de klinische praktijk als bij wetenschappelijk onderzoek kan het belangrijk zijn in kaart te brengen hoeveel en hoe vaak er alcohol gedronken en/of drugs is gebruikt gedurende een bepaalde periode. Vaak wordt hiervoor gebruik gemaakt van de Timeline Followback (TLFB), een valide en betrouwbaar interview om middelengebruik retrospectief per dag uit te vragen. Aangezien het afnemen ervan tijdsintensief is en dient te geschieden door een getrainde professional, is dit interview moeilijk te implementeren in de praktijk. Een alternatief is de Quick Drinking Screen (QDS), een korte vragenlijst waarbij de gemiddelde hoeveelheid alcohol die gebruikt werd over een bepaalde periode kan worden geschat. Onlangs is de QDS aangepast om ook drugsgebruik in kaart te brengen, maar de psychometrische kenmerken van deze versie zijn nog niet onderzocht. De huidige studie onderzocht de concurrente validiteit van deze Revised QDS - Self-Report (QDS-R-S) met de TLFB bij 61 studenten van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. De QDS-R-S bleek valide voor het vaststellen van het gebruik van alcohol, cannabis en XTC. Deze bevindingen ondersteunen de bruikbaarheid van de QDS-R-S voor zowel klinische als onderzoeksdoeleinden. Toekomstig onderzoek dient zich te richten op het repliceren van deze resultaten in een klinische populatie.
