Comorbide ontwikkeling van agressief en regeloverschrijdend gedrag. Relaties met persoonlijkheid en opvoeden

samenvatting

Deze studie onderzocht de ontwikkeling van agressief en regeloverschrijdend gedrag (cbcl) van zes tot vijftien jaar (N = 586). Tevens is bekeken in hoeverre sekse en persoonlijkheidskenmerken van kinderen (Hipic), opvoedgedrag van moeders (Parenting Scale), en interacties tussen kindkenmerken en opvoeding gerelateerd waren aan agressief en regeloverschrijdend gedrag. Resultaten suggereren dat agressief gedrag afneemt en regeloverschrijdend gedrag, gemiddeld genomen, stabiel is. De ontwikkeling van agressief en regeloverschrijdend gedrag is echter ook aan elkaar gerelateerd. Bij kinderen die meer regeloverschrijdend gedrag vertonen op zesjarige leeftijd daalt bijvoorbeeld de mate van agressief gedrag minder gedurende de adolescentie. Minder extraverte, welwillende en consciëntieuze kinderen en meer vindingrijke kinderen waren gevoeliger voor overreactief opvoedgedrag. Vooral moeders van kinderen met dergelijke kenmerken kunnen baat hebben bij opvoedingsondersteuning gericht op het ontwikkelen van effectieve disciplinaire technieken.
