Samenvatting

3,4-methyleendioxymethamfetamine (mdma), beter bekend als xtc of ecstasy, is een populaire recreatieve drug. Er zijn veel onderzoeken die sterk doen vermoeden dat het gebruik ervan op lange termijn schadelijke gevolgen heeft op fysiek, emotioneel en cognitief gebied (Baylen & Rosenberg, 2006; Cowan, 2007; Gouzoulis-Mayfrank & Daumann, 2006a, Verheyden, Henry & Curran, 2003).
Er zijn echter factoren die het mdma-onderzoek compliceren, zowel bij de opzet van een gedegen studie, als bij de correcte interpretatie van de resultaten.
