2. Diagnostiek van ARFID

Samenvatting

Hoe stel je vast of er bij iemand sprake is van ARFID? En wie kan (of mag?) dit doen? Afhankelijk van de setting – het consultatiebureau, de school, GGD/jeugdarts, ziekenhuis, kinderarts, huisarts, diëtistenpraktijk, een tweedelijns behandelcentrum voor geestelijke gezondheidszorg, enzovoort – en de leeftijd van de persoon in kwestie, zijn er verschillende mogelijkheden om te screenen op ARFID. Indien deze screening aanleiding geeft voor verder onderzoek kan er met meer specifiek op ARFID gerichte diagnostische instrumenten worden getoetst door gedragswetenschappers en (para)medische professionals. Voor gerichtere diagnostiek, bijvoorbeeld met de PARDI, is training nodig en bovendien kennis van diagnostiek en het klinisch beeld van voedings- en eetstoornissen. Doorgaans wordt dit interview door gedragswetenschappers zoals psychologen afgenomen. Andere diagnostische procedures, zoals bloedonderzoek en het uitsluiten van lichamelijke oorzaken, worden door artsen uitgevoerd. Diëtisten kunnen diagnostisch bijdragen door op basis van de voedingsanamnese te bepalen welke deficiënties er in het huidige voedingspatroon zijn. Kortom, screening kan breed ingezet worden en aanleiding geven tot verder onderzoek en vaststelling van ARFID. Dit laatste gebeurt in meer specialistische settingen door kundige zorgprofessionals.
