GENDER issues: media news value?

CV News Digest is a daily news briefing selected from thousands of media sources (including Wall Street Journal and New York Times). The mission of CV News Digest is to alert ACC members about cardiovascular-related information that their patients may read or hear in the media that day or week. Being a fellow of the ACC, one is almost daily informed about specific topics that have penetrated the news media. Since gender issues are receiving a lot of attention those days (it will be one of the major topics of the 2010 Fall Congress of our Society), I have searched for news that had gender as major subject. A time window of six months was chosen from December 2009 till June 2010. The gender-related issues show a broad spectrum varying from specific XX related issues (such as pregnancy and breast feeding) to vascular risk, prevention, symptoms, diagnostic procedures, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, and bypass surgery.
