Samenvatting

Diabetes mellitus is een complexe aandoening en de behandeling ervan vereist vaak het inzetten van een breed spectrum aan geneesmiddelen. De bloedglucoseverlagende behandeling moet meestal met toenemende ziekteduur geïntensiveerd worden. Hypertensie vraagt vaak om het voorschrijven van bloedverlagende therapie en lipidenstoornissen moeten meestal ook medicamenteus gecorrigeerd worden. Niet zelden moet daar nog medicatie aan worden toegevoegd voor secundaire preventie van diabetegerelateerde vasculaire complicaties.
