Researchers in the field of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) are increasingly aware of the importance of patient engagement in their research. In the past, patients were primarily involved as subjects of research. They provided input and feedback on new measurement development, intervention design, or implementation strategies. The current emphasis on engagement is more elaborate.
