Samenvatting

Van der Heijden, Derksen en Egger (2008) breken in hun artikel een lans voor de (her)invoering van psychodiagnostiek ‘binnen de psychotherapeutische context’. ‘Echte’ psychotherapeuten hebben volgens de auteurs te lang een broertje dood gehad aan testen. De meeste psychotherapeuten baseren hun diagnostiek niet op statistische, maar louter op klinische databronnen: ‘kijken en praten’. En dat terwijl Paul Meehl decennia lang steeds weer wist aan te tonen dat statistische predictie vrijwel altijd superieur is aan klinische predictie (zie bijvoorbeeld: Dawes, Faust &Meehl, 1989).
