As chance would have it, I was asked to review this book about violence risk assessment in juveniles shortly after I began working with juveniles with mental illness and problems with the law. Most of these young adults come from environments far from ideal, with many experiencing forms of abuse and neglect most of us cannot imagine. They engage in a variety of challenging behavior because they feel they have nothing to lose. These adolescents are at the highest risk for perpetrating or becoming victims of violence. …
