Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt ingegaan op de vraag waarom vormgeving van het wortelkanaalstelsel gewenst/noodzakelijk is en wanneer hiervan kan worden afgeweken. Verder wordt ingegaan op waar het eindpunt van de vormgeving (apicale eindpunt) moet liggen en naar welke dimensies gestreefd wordt voor een geprepareerd wortelkanaal (apicale diameter en taper). Als laatste volgt nog een overzicht van de ontwikkeling van de instrumenten waarmee het wortelkanaal geprepareerd kan worden en worden enkele preparatietechnieken besproken.
