Samenvatting

Behandeling van pathologische gastro-oesofageale reflux is in principe conservatief. Alleen wanneer conservatieve behandeling niet slaagt of wanneer complicaties optreden, is chirurgische behandeling te overwegen. In de tijd zijn verschillende chirurgische technieken ontwikkeld, in een poging om ongewenste nevenverschijnselen te voorkomen. De laatste jaren kunnen deze technieken ook laparoscopisch worden uitgevoerd. De voordelen van de laparoscopische technieken – minder postoperatieve pijn, kortere opnameduur en kleinere littekens – zijn in dubbelblinde studies aangetoond. Ongeveer 90% van de patiënten is na chirurgische behandeling klachtenvrij.
