Samenvatting

Artrose is een vaak voorkomende reumatische aandoening; op cardiovasculaire ziekten na is artrose verantwoordelijk voor de meeste invaliditeit. Uit onderzoek blijkt dat 90% van de bevolking boven de 60 jaar degeneratieve afwijkingen heeft in de gewrichten die het gewicht dragen. Artrose verloopt vaak asymptomatisch: maar ongeveer een kwart van de mensen met artrose ondervindt hiervan klachten.
