Samenvatting

Het eerste trimester van de zwangerschap begint bij de conceptie kort na de ovulatie (CD 14 = 2+0 weken amenorroe). De embryonale periode begint bij de conceptie en duurt tot 58 dagen daarna (= 8 weken en 2 dagen embryonale leeftijd). Standaard wordt tweedimensionale (2D) transvaginale echoscopie gebruikt om de embryonale periode te vervolgen. Met behulp van innovatieve technieken, zoals driedimensionale (3D) echoscopie en virtualrealitytechnieken, is het mogelijk om de embryonale morfologie nu ook in-utero in detail te vervolgen.
