Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk vormt een inleiding op H. 44. Het gaat kort in op de langetermijngevolgen van kindermishandeling voor de lichamelijke en psychische gezondheid en het gedrag. De baanbrekende ACE study (‘adverse childhood experiences’) uit de Verenigde Staten komt aan bod, evenals de door TNO uitgevoerde steekproef naar het voorkomen van ACE’s onder de Nederlandse bevolking.
