Samenvatting

Angst- en depressieklachten komen vaak voor bij kankerpatiënten, met name in de eerste jaren na diagnose. Voor de juiste (na)zorg is het belangrijk hier als huisarts voldoende aandacht voor te hebben. Het is belangrijk om je als huisarts te realiseren dat het moeilijk kan zijn om psychische klachten bij patiënten met kanker te herkennen, gezien de overlap met klachten als gevolg van kanker(behandeling); voor patiënten zelf is dit vaak ook niet makkelijk. Daarnaast voelen veel patiënten een drempel om psychologische zorg te accepteren. We adviseren om al kort na de diagnose de deur voor patiënten open te zetten en zo eventuele klachten tijdig te kunnen herkennen en dan samen te kijken naar een passende aanpak. Dit kan mogelijk een preventieve werking hebben.
