Professor Roger J.R. Levesque seeks to interpret where empirical research on school segregation detaches from the United States government and what is currently being done about it, as well as where these sources lie within the foundation of our Constitution, and possible realities that could emerge from the gridlock within the legal system. Levesque begins with the hallmark court case that desegregated American schools, Brown v. Board of Education, and using other cornerstone court cases for evidence such as Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle School District to branch out toward an empirical analysis of the legal developments of racial classifications. In doing so, Levesque evaluates and impressive amount of evidence dictating whether or not the two fundamental approaches to segregation policy—anti-subordination and anti-classification—can be tailored into today’s educational policies. Although it is without committing a logical fallacy to say that this book is for academic and legal scholars only, this book does require a general legal vocabulary and would be best suited for those looking to conduct research or better understand the complexities that lie burrowed inside America’s legal and educational systems. …
