Kernpunten

  • Inspanningsgebonden pijn in en rondom het scheenbeen is een veelvoorkomende sportblessure.
  • De huisarts kan met anamnese en lichamelijk onderzoek onderscheid maken tussen een viertal oorzaken: mediaal tibiaal stresssyndroom, stressfractuur, chronisch compartimentsyndroom en atraumatische klachten van de onderbeenspieren.
  • Bij alle scheenbeenklachten is relatieve rust (‘onder de pijngrens blijven’) de eerste therapeutische maatregel.
