Kernpunten

  • De oorzaak van xanthelasma palpebrarum is niet bekend.
  • De helft van de patiënten met xanthelasmata heeft ook hypercholesterolemie, dus screenend bloedonderzoek is zinvol.
  • Verwijdering van de plaques is vanwege het goedaardige karakter alleen geïndiceerd bij cosmetische bezwaren en heeft een hoge kans op recidieven.
