Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft diverse huidafwijkingen die kunnen worden waargenomen in het kader van kindermishandeling. Het eerste deel beschrijft hematomen en kenmerken daarvan om onderscheid te maken tussen een krachtsinwerking (accidenteel of niet-accidenteel) of ziekte en de bijbehorende differentiaaldiagnose in verschillende leeftijdsgroepen. Ook artificiële afwijkingen komen aan bod. Het tweede deel beschrijft brandwonden, en betreft met name het onderscheid tussen natte en droge brandwonden en de kenmerken van brandwonden door een ongeluk of door lichamelijke mishandeling of verwaarlozing. Ook wordt ingegaan op de differentiaaldiagnose met huidaandoeningen die kunnen lijken op brandwonden.
