Kernpunten

  • Kenmerkend voor een bursitis olecrani is een flucturende zwelling op de elleboog.
  • Busitis olecrani kan ontstaan door niet-infectieuze of infectieuze oorzaken.
  • Het beleid bij een niet-infectieuze bursitis is afwachtend. Een corticosteroïdinjectie wordt niet aanbevolen.
  • Start bij infectieuze bursitis een empirische antibiotische behandeling met flucloxacilline indien er geen ernstige klachten zijn zoals uitgebreide cellulitis, abcesvorming of ernstige algemene ziekteverschijnselen.
